THE SEED ITSELF

Did you catch the most important word: seed?

Buckwheat is not a wheat at all. In fact, it’s not even a grain.

It’s an herbaceous, flowering plant whose seeds can be harvested, hulled, and roasted to brew tea, or ground 
into flour to create breads, crisps, noodles, and more. 

A CARING CROP

Buckwheat as a crop, is also beloved by the environment.

Its blossoming flowers not only attract pollinators and beneficial insects, but its ability to thrive in low-fertility soil (while nourishing the soil in turn) make it an excellent regenerative plant. For these reasons, it’s commonly used as a cover crop by farmers to dispel weeds, and to protect and treat the soil in between growing seasons.
